Sperm Freezing

Preserve Your Options for the Future

Sperm freezing may be considered before some medical treatments, while planning ahead, or as part of a fertility plan. Storage and future use depend on the agreed clinical and storage arrangements.

Who It's For

Sperm freezing is commonly chosen by men who:

Are facing medical treatment

Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and some surgeries can affect fertility. Freezing a sample beforehand means options are preserved regardless of the outcome.

Are planning ahead by choice

Fertility naturally changes over time. Storing sperm now means quality is captured at its best — giving more flexibility for future family planning.

Are preparing for a fertility cycle

Having a frozen backup sample ensures that a fresh sample is always available on retrieval or transfer day, removing a significant source of uncertainty.

Are undergoing surgery that may affect fertility

Certain procedures — including vasectomy — can affect sperm availability later. Freezing beforehand keeps future options open.

The Process

What to Expect

A connected sequence of treatment steps from the first consultation through follow-up.

  1. Consultation

A confidential conversation with one of our urology and andrology specialists about your reasons for considering sperm freezing, your general health, and what the process involves.

Consultation — two seats facing each other across a small round table.
  2. Semen Analysis

A detailed assessment of sperm count, motility, and morphology — giving you and your specialist a clear picture of sperm quality before freezing, and informing how many samples would be advisable to store.

Sperm selection — several sperm shown faintly, with one ringed and highlighted.
  3. Freezing & Secure Storage

Sperm is processed and frozen using validated cryopreservation protocols in our andrology lab. Samples are stored securely in individually labelled containers with strict chain-of-custody controls.

Freezing and storage — a storage straw with a preserved cell, framed by frost motifs.
  4. Planning for Future Use

Future use is subject to your storage agreement, clinical advice, sample assessment, and facility availability at that time.

Diagnostic workup — a sample vial beside a rising and falling results line.
